15% service tax on Online downloads
The service tax on online downloads from any foreign websites is going to cost a bomb from December 1st. Going into the details, service tax of 15% will be imposed by union government on downloading stiff like music, e-book from them and many of them will be added your bills.
The new game plan by union government comes days after Modi declared demonetization of old 500 & 1000 days and in the past, no taxation was collected by collected by central government. The central board of exchange & customs has made his announcement in view of growing penchant for overseas content in India.
Like other regular goods, 15 per cent tax will be collected on provided services such as internet advertising, providing cloud services, e-books, movies, music, videos, software downloads and other intangibles via telecommunication networks or internet; providing data or information in electronic format via a computer network, online supply of digital content, digital data storage and also online gaming.
